Description of Lambs, Love and Laughter:
Kate Fagalde left England at the age of eighteen, fairly convinced that she would return a couple of years later. However, life was not to be as simple as that and it would be thirty years before she would return home to live. During that time, Kate lived for twenty three years in the little ex-British Protectorate of Lesotho, an enclave in the centre of South Africa. Married to one of the European traders, she travelled the country extensively both by air, jeep and horseback, visiting the trading stations that her husband operated. It was here that Kate developed a love for African beadwork and an interest in the tribal customs of the Basotho and Xhosa peoples. Both her children were born here and it was only when they had grown up and moved overseas that she re-married and settled on Bulklip Farm across the Lesotho border in South Africa.
